I had the pleasure of interviewing Eric yesterday and will post that podcast in the day or so after I remove some of the wind noise.
Well Eric is quite an accomplished athlete doing triathlons so it seems that he has developed a good balance between personal & business goals.
His presentation today covers the how conversion can work for you and he relates to ABC as Always Be Communicating. Well that is social media isn’t it? Eric focuses on the banking industry and leverages his experience as a banker to relate positively to his prospects.
He conducts Power breakfast talks as well as his free Wednesday webinar. He is fast becoming renown as an expert in banking and speaks at many events. This is the way he develops his lead generation and finds that he does not have to buy leads.
The message that he makes is why don’t you concentrate on your previous experience and leverage your knowledge and be recognized as an expert in your field.
Eric has leveraged the WSI network to the full using seminars, whitepapers, webinars, articles etc. He spends a lot of time networking.
He refers to the book “Book Yourself Solid” always have something to offer them
Eric’s markets his services in the following way:
- Newsletter is called “Internet minute”
- FreeWebinarWednesdays
- BloggingForBankers
Eric has done extremely well in his first two years and he is a great example of how you can get a flying start in this business.
All new Internet Consultants should view this presentation and see what ideas you can get for your own business.

Max Kalles is a seasoned IC from Canada and his presentation covers how to sell a solution to the construction sector.
His key take away is on how to use stories to sell. I like that type of thinking as that is the way that I prefer to sell.
Why do businesses in home services need WSI;
- The Yellow pages ties you into a contract and it is difficult to measure the return on investment
- Many of their websites have not been professionally built
- The construction industry normally spend large amounts on marketing
So the value that we can add is that we can take the entire problem from them and meet with them on a monthly basis to discuss how many leads they received.
Many construction companies struggle to get consistent leads. This makes them an an ideal industry for a WSI consultant to partner and offer their services on a monthly basis.
This industry vertical doesn’t really want to spend too much time on technology and marketing so they are an ideal industry to work with.
Max conducts seminars that are focussed on the construction industry and he gets them all into a room together and educate them on how we can help them with lead generation.
We have access to many case studies and should take advantage of our white paper series to build our credibility.
Max goes on to show us how to offer a phrased approach
- Test & prove phrase
- Gain market share
- Market domination phase
The above covers:
- Microsite
- Pay Per Click
- Search engine optimization
- Paid directories & banners
- Email marketing
- Social media marketing
Max shares his presentation “Stop being an Apple, start being an Orange” that all of us could use and refer to.
The Law of competition
- Customer researches 6-10 websites.
- They call 3-4 of them for quotes
- They choose 1 to hire
- There is no second place
Max suggests that we use his case studies and stories.
How’s that for the power of the WSI network. Where can you find a business opportunity where experts in your industry share information freely with one another.

Well here we are on day one and we have a full house of WSI Internet Consultants. This conference is by far the largest that we have had since the inception of Excellence & Innovation. I believe that there are over 300 Internet consultants.
Ron Mc Arthur has opened the day and as usual his presentation shows the commitment that WSI has towards their franchisees.
Our goodie bag has some great marketing collateral on our branding solutions, Production centers and the WSI end client white papers and webinars.
I look forward to next presentations for the day and will provide you with an overview as we go along.

Drew is a new WSI Consultant who is rapidly making a name for himself in our network. I have listened to Drew present on social media a number of times this year and I guess the youngsters today just ease into social media a lot easier than some of us older guys.
His presentation covers the following strategies:
- Twitter campaigns for restaurants
- Video optimization on YouTube
- Banner advertising
- Mobile marketing
- Blog campaigns
With Twitter, Drew advises us to follow relevant users, don’t try & get 10,000 followers as they are not all your target market. Always be Human as that is what social media is all about, be personal and conversational.
He shared the following tools, “Twollow”, Tweetgrid” “Tweepular” & “Twellow”
All WSI ICs should review his presentation as Drew has a great example of how to use social media to market a restaurant. He has achieved great results that any consultant can use as reference.

Daren is well known for changing his business model over the past 5 years to one that is scalable even with a small team. His presentation is on Permission based email marketing and the message is; “always about the relationship”.
Daren’s main purpose when networking is to always add value to whoever he meets so that people will remember him.
Topics covered in his presentation:
- Why permission based marketing?
- Today’s challenges
- Elements of success
- The opportunity
- Packaging a solution
- Proposed pricing options
- Resources
Daren makes a point that email marketing can assist in keeping your pipeline going as you can stay top of mind with your readers.
A good question that he shares is to ask your prospect, “What is the biggest business challenge that you face?”
Imagine getting all the challenges from everyone you meet. Daren then starts sending emails with valuable information on addressing the biggest challenges that companies face.
What a great idea to keep yourself as a WSI Internet Consultant, “top of mind with your prospects”
I recommend that all WSI ICs get their hands on Daren’s presentation to learn about the importance of email marketing as part of your business.
Once again, I recommend that all ICs attend the Excellence & Innovation conferences as an integral part of your business.
